Cloud this, Cloud that

As the hype about Google cloud is rising, you might have heard people speaking excitingly about it on several occasions. They are all "Cloud this, Cloud that", but when it comes to the proper explanation most of them fall silent. In fact, it's really not that difficult. The team at Fortix, as Google premium partner for WA, felt obliged to bring a bit of clarity into the hive.

Interesting numbers
Nowadays 4 million businesses using Google Apps   source: www.google.com/a
Gmail is available in 54 languages and has 350 million users (January 2012)

What is Google Cloud?

Google Cloud is simply the way to connect your team and allow its cooperation anytime from anywhere. Now you might be asking the same question as we hear from “soon-to-be-our-clients” so often. “But how does it actually work?” And here it is, finally. It's all happening through several online tools – Apps if you want, which bring cooperation in real time, simply via the internet. All you need is an internet connection and a browser. (Speaking of Google, ideally Chrome.) One of the biggest advantages lays in the fact that there is no need to install anything. You don't even need a server, not even an IT Manager. It's papa Google who has all this and gives you the chance to have it all too.

7 reasons why businesses choose Google

1.  Price - 1/2 the cost and includes so much more
2.  Integrate or extend - easily integrates with other programs & tools
3.  Mobility - Any device, anywhere. All you need in an internet connection
4.  Reliable - 99.9% up time
5.  Collaboration - Real time, all application showing the same current data
6.  Maintenance Free - no patches or upgrades ever
7.  Security - Never loose data through hard drive crashes, floods, fire or computer theft

What goes under the Cloud

Gmail, GTalk, Google Calendar, Google Doc, Blogspot, Google Analytics, AdSense, AdWords, Tasks, Google Groups, Google Sites, Google Alerts and more and more and more.

The best thing about all the Apps mentioned above,  is that papa Google keeps spending money and resources to make them more useful, safer and easier to use every day. And guess what, you get it for free.

In next article, we will have a closer look at Gmail, Google Calendar, GTalk and Tasks and will give you an example how to use them effectively.

Manufacturing Business Automation [ba] increases growth by 40% in 12 months

Client's Case study: Sign-A-Rama Joondalup Launch Date: March 2011

Objective

Open new business operations at a second location. Unify company resources via an online business system to deliver services more efficiently while eliminating communication gaps. Become a leading Sign-A-Rama store nationally.

Result

The idea of using a single manufacturing facility in one location connected via an automated business system for both stores paid off. Craig Mason, MD of Sign-A-Rama reported to us a 40% business growth in less than 12 months. He is declaring that the investment the business made to the Business Automation [ba] paid for itself already.
The Cloud based business management system is managing all estimates and sales leads as well as client contacts in one location enabling sales people to quote from the client’s location.
Preloaded resources and product templates into the system are cutting down the time needed to prepare quotes to about 30% and increased quoting consistency across the sales team to 95%.
Lastly the system is also handling invoicing and automatically chases unpaid accounts on a weekly basis reducing time to get money to the bank.

  • Business Operations Training

Description of solution

We wanted to help Craig and his team to receive benefits from day one. Our team decided to use their business strengths and develop an automated system that will befit sales as well as service teams. We have spent time to optimise the business process and eliminated parts that could be replaced by business automation such as getting approvals from clients, managing due dates and collecting unpaid invoices.
We have also streamlined delivery by capturing job information and pushing this through the whole process (estimate, sales, production) enabling everyone to be on the same page without any duplication. Teams can also collaborate internally or bring clients to the process at any time by the click of a button.
